OK, this concept and the resulting jewellery are SO FREAKIN' COOL. Meshu will create a graphic based on geographical points, and then make it in to earrings, necklaces, cufflinks, and more. It could be all the places you lived as a kid, the stops on your honeymoon, the cities you visited on your first trip to Europe, or all the places you want to visit before you die. Meaningful without being in-your-face kitchy, the designs are modern and stylish - not words you would normally associate with such a keepsake. I love the personal subtlety. You can read more about the interface here or plot your own design here. The mind boggles. What an amazing gift - and would it not be an awesome tattoo?
Found on a Fast Co. Design article by Mark Wilson.
These are so cool! They remind me of a post that design sponge did but it was about a lamp (www.designsponge.com/2012/06/vasiliy-butenkos-mess-light.html) I think geometric shapes are really coming in this season for design.
ReplyDeleteOk I have to admit that I'm kinda of excited about this. I love the story behind each shape, it gives more life to it. It simple and clever. I love shapes. Def. going to bring more excitement when I travel and doc my trip/experience with this. Also it's great for gifts!

This is so cool! However, I'm far too frugal to buy them. It is a neat idea however! Very unique.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome concept!!! I'm going to go find out more about this artist now!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Just finished reading and realized that you can create your own! Even better!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could take credit... :) But if I have one made, I will be sure to share the design!
ReplyDeleteI agree, they aren't cheap. But maybe if you were looking for a treasure from your honeymoon, after spending all that cash on the wedding... what's another chunk of change, right? ;p
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of cufflinks for the Mr. They would be absolutely unique!
ReplyDeleteI think you are absolutely spot on. And that light is dynamite.
ReplyDeleteRight!

ReplyDeleteI think it'd be really fun to do a DIY geometric lamp shape with some light weighted metal rodes from home depot or something, that way you can make up any organic shape you like....spray paint it to any color you want. Think thats possible?
ReplyDeleteI do - there must be something at the hardware store that is already that shape.. or some disks with the slit in them that you fit together. Isn't that a kids toy? You could build the shape, then spray it whatever colour.
ReplyDeleteNeed to experiment and blog about this!! Any decorating plans for you this weekend Lisa?
