Giveaway from Shibang Designs

It is raining giveaways around here! This one is generously offered by Robyn from Shibang Designs. I noticed her booth immediately at the One of A Kind Show - her designs are bright and unique, and her technique is incredible.  She uses wool roving, layers of fabric, and her sewing machine to create these gorgeous flowers - they look like tropical watercolours to me.  And the designs she then creates around them - from clutches to make-up cases to wall art - are just beautiful.  Plus, she is a Maritimer (albeit living in BC), so that's 10 extra points for her, right? (EDIT - OK I may have jumped the gun on that one, she is a West Coast gal who did her degree in Halifax.  But I'll still give her the points. ) :)
Robyn has offered up one of her iPhone cases (which make total sense as I look at the scratches on the front of my phone from having only one of those back cases).  To enter, please visit her Etsy shop or online shop and come back let me know which piece is your fave.  Each one is unique - they really are amazing.  Contest will close next Monday evening at 6PM EST (in time for Mother's Day!  Just sayin...).  Of course, there are lots of ways to improve your odds and gain additional entries:

  • Follow my blog!  Really... by doing this you have already won... ;p
  • LIKE Shibang Designs on Facebook
  • Tweet about the giveaway (use @lisamackay and @ShibangTextiles)
Robyn is also offering Wicked and Weird readers a 20% discount on items in her Etsy shop.  So you can get your Mother's Day gift there, and then when you win the giveaway - keep that for yourself!  I know, I'm always thinking... Enter the code wickedandweird to get your discount.  Yay Robyn!
I think this last one is my personal pick - love the smokey blue on the black, and the shape of the case is awesome.  Wouldn't this be nice for someone who has a birthday in May?  Someone with a really amazing blog?  Just sayin... Thank you so much Robyn - you are going to make one of my readers a very lucky person!!

And the Winner is...

The winner of the Intertwyned photography give-away is...

Congrats to Cathy - and a big THANK YOU to Jamie for such a lovely prize, and to everyone who entered.  It is heartening to know you all are out there reading. :)  Stay tuned as I have another fabulous giveaway coming soon...

Cathy - send me your mailing info and photo preference and I will pass it on to Jamie.  You can email or DM me @lisamackay.  And start thinking about where it's going to go Lucky Girl! :)

Giveaway from Intertwyned Photography!!

I loved taking that Souvenir Foto School course that did in February, I learned so much from the instructors, and also from fellow students.  Jamie is one of those fellow students that blew me away from her very first photo.  I will admit I spent a lot of time in Photoshop trying to emulate her gorgeous, soft, creamy shots.  I learned a lot about Photoshop in the process, but could never come close to the end results that Jamie got.  I was thrilled when she opened an etsy shop, and now am honoured that is offering one of her photographs to one of my readers!
I would love this tree one blown up - I could stare into those leaves all day.  I should probably just get this to replace that old tree our back!

To enter the giveaway, please visit Jamie's Etsy shop HERE, then come back and leave a comment with the photo you would choose if you won.  Yup, winner gets to choose the print, up to 8 x 10 in size!
For extra entries, you have lots of options, just leave a comment for each one you complete:

  • Follow my blog over there on the right!  I love seeing new faces over there. :)
  • Follow Jamie's sweet blog - her friend's baby bump photos on there now are the cutest I have seen.
  • Like Jamie on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/intertwynedphotography), and for another entry,
  • Tweet about the giveaway for one more!
EDIT: I forgot to mention the deadline! You can enter up to Sunday evening at 8 pm. I will announce the winner on Monday (and I may even have more goodies to give away!).
Her stuff is so dreamy... Wouldn't that cloudy sky be lovely in a nursery?  And I love the of having all the food shots be lovely grouped together in a kitchen.  They just make me think of fresh summer air and wispy curtains.  What do you think?

Thanks again Jamie!

Junghwa giveaway winner!

The winner of this gorgeous pendant necklace is...
Congratulations Lauren!!

For the rest of us, the consolation can be that Amy has more in her Etsy store - and they don't break the bank. :)

Thanks to Amy for the necklace, and thank you to everyone who entered - I appreciate you stopping by my little blog!  There will be more giveaways to come, so check back again soon.  Happy Monday!

Giveaway from Junghwa!

I am so excited for this amazing giveaway!  I blogged about my love for Junghwa's owner/designer Amy Stewart not even a month ago, and Amy kindly offered up this gorgeous pendant to one of my lucky readers.  It is everything I earlier admired about her designs: pretty, feminine, subtle, and perfect for anytime you need to add a little quiet sparkle to your day.  (Yes, I wish I could win!)

Here is how to enter:

  1. Go to Junghwa's Facebook page and hit LIKE:  facebook.com/junghwabyamystewart
  2. Come back here and let me know you did!
Yup, that easy.  But since I know you really, really want this necklace, here are a few more ways to gain additional entries (leave a comment for each one):

The contest closes this Sunday night (March 4) at 10:00 pm EST and I will announce the lucky winner next Monday.  Amy will ship directly to the winner and you could be wearing this lovely item within a couple of weeks!  The internet is awesome, no?

Yay me!

HGTV.ca just had a giveaway on their blog for tickets to the fall home show and I own!  I am just going to go ahead and say that no one else must have entered - cause I NEVER win these things.  Today I got the tickets and some fun swag (that pen is anti-bacterial?). Having put together a lot of logo swag for the Symphony, I always get a kick out of seeing what other companies buy, and these are great. A girl can never have too many pocket measuring tapes!  Thanks HGTV!

Also to my partner-in-swag-crime Jessica - check out the notebook. :)  I can't wait to see the TSO's slick 90th anniversary version!   And maybe subscribers need a pocket interchangeable screw driver for 2011-2012?

Hue Fielding winner

Apologies for the radio silence over here on the blog, but I have been enjoying an amazing visit with the in-laws in Canmore, Alberta.  I will have some photos soon!  However, I wanted to drop in and announce the winner of the Hue Fielding give-away: Comment #2 - Shannon!  She chose a stylish vest for the baby-on-the-way in the comments - I am sure he/she will be quite the fashion plate. :)

Thanks to all who entered.  I encourage you to check out the other adorable items in Hue Fielding's etsy store.  And, I hope to have a few more posts up in the next couple of days so don't give up on me! :)

Winner!

My random number generator (aka my 3-year-old son) picked number NINE for the winner, which means Selina - you have won the necklace!  Hoorah!  Congrats Lady! Thanks so much to Big Tinsel for the fabulous prize, and thank you to everyone who entered.  :)

Big Tinsel Giveaway!

One of the local Toronto-based Etsy artists I wrote about for my West Elm/Etsy Pop-up post was Big Tinsel, and I wanted to do a more complete post on her because I thought her jewelry was wonderful.  Maria is the creative mind behind these lovely necklaces, rings and bracelets, and she explains her process so well in her Etsy profile, that I won't even try to recreate it, here it is:

My aim is to create interesting and fun pieces that are still simple and restrained enough to work in the real world. I love things that are a little bit industrial, a little bit rough and a little bit refined. Most of my work is very small quantities and using vintage and salvaged materials, so know that you are getting something unique. I package my work as simply as possible to minimize shipping costs for you and reduce unnecessary waste.  I wish I was smart enough to be a scientist or an astronomer, so instead, I use them as frequent themes in my jewelry. I also love talismans, and using symbols in new and unexpected ways.

Maria perfectly describes what attracted me to her work - it is industrial-looking in materials and aesthetic, but also every piece is also really "pretty" in a delicate and simple way.  I like the edginess of skulls mixed with lovely stones and delicate chains.  It is a charming and effective mix!
As well, each piece seems to have a great story behind it - such as the one above that is made of vintage buckle posts stored for years by her dad for his shoe repair shop.  So cool, and the idea of putting them on a mixed-metal chain is perfect.  The one below is called Orbit, and represents the sun, the earth and the moon.  I think it's my favourite.
As the title of the post proclaims so proudly, Maria has been kind enough to offer a necklace to one of my readers.  This is kind of amazing for me, since my only other giveaway was for the charity garden project I am involved in.  All these years, all those etsy posts, and I never thought to ask if the artist wanted to promote their shop by giving something away!  Actually, that is a lie, I did think of it but figured my blog was so small they would laugh, and also wanted to avoid embarrassment when no one commented.  :)

Maria has generously offered the beautiful Comet necklace, pictured below.  I love that it pretty and understated, but when you know that it's a comet, (which are considered lucky by many)  it is even more charismatic! Plus, you just can't go wrong with brass and black in my books.

To enter the giveaway, please:
  • Become a follower of Wicked & Weird (there is a button off to the left)
  • Visit Big Tinsel on Etsy and and try to pick a favourite
  • Come back here and leave me a comment describing which one you chose and where you would wear it!
  • Extra entry if you tweet about the giveaway - my 'handle' is @LisaMackay.  Come back here and let me know in a separate comment that you did!
That's it!  I will randomly pick a numbered post this weekend and announce the winner Monday.  SO excited.

Please also visit Maria at misscrowland.blogspot.com, on Facebook here, and follow her @misscrowland on Twitter.  She also has another etsy shop that does custom silhouettes (so cool and she has been featured everywhere from Steven & Chris to Martha Stewart weddings!) I could go on and on about that one too, but that will have to wait for another post. :)  Thanks so much Maria!
