We replaced the tipsy over-the-john cabinet, whose doors didn't close, and the medicine cabinet we had stacked on top of it with a lovely, sleek mirrored cabinet from Ikea. It makes the room feel so much bigger and brighter. I got it on the last day of the "bathroom event" and it is being discontinued, so I got to drag Will all over the highways of Toronto from one Ikea to another to get one. Worth it.
The lovely West Elm shower curtain that inspired the whole room looks even better in person. The grey on the walls and black on the floor highlight the original black and white tile beautifully - especially on the floor where it runs into the black band on the bath.
The faucet is my favourite part - we went from two leaky separate hot and cold faucets to this lovely number, from which WARM WATER (i.e. a mix of hot and cold!!) flows with ease. Heaven. I have had the whale hooks from Urban Outfitters for years and was happy to find the perfect spot for them. (The other two are going to go on the long wall, but my stud finder said it was full of electricity so I thought I would hold off on that...) The painting of Nova Scotia we bought years ago at the McMichael Art Show. My Aunt Daphne got the rug for me for my birthday. The mason jars I got at Value Village ages ago. The blind I have had in a closet for years. (I am thinking of painting it with some blue fabric paint - maybe stripes?) All in all, I think the whole room cost well under $500. Worth it.
Ahhhhhhh. The photos just don't do it justice. It is my new happy place.
Lisa it looks beautiful! I love it - great job! :) I love, love, love that shower curtain! I'll be in the market to buy one soon. I'm thinking of swinging by WE for one before we head out west for good!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat looks fabulous Lisa! That floor is spectacular. It all looks so clean and fresh. Well done!
ReplyDeleteNice work Lisa! How does the faucet work? It still looks like separate hot and cold taps!
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThe new one has two separate handles but one spout. Before we had one spout on the left for hot with its own handle, and another spout on the right for cold. To get warm water, you had to put the plug in the sink and mix it. I haven't washed my face with warm water since we moved in!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, my Aunt is from Vancouver and she got a couple of things too before heading back! (The rug and hand towel are from there too.) I highly recommend the curtain! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah! I love it. :)

ReplyDeleteAw you're so nice Dharma... I tried to save the cursing for when the kids were asleep, but it's a small house - who knows! Do doubt they will wait for the most embarrassing moment to start repeating them...
ReplyDeleteDid you pull up the linoleum? Or paint right over it?
ReplyDeleteWe painted right over it with outdoor deck paint!
ReplyDeleteI have loved that shower curtain for a long time! The bathroom looks great - well done! (Just popped over from the Rambling Renos post :) )
