You may have noticed a sad lack of posts this summer... my excuse is that my husband and I have been off on a ten-week maternity/paternity adventure in Alberta and New Brunswick with our 2 boys. It has been the stuff of dreams, and we are sad to see it coming to an end but eternally grateful to our parents for putting up with us and making these past 2 months so magical.
This past weekend was New Brunswick Day weekend and I thought I would post some of the many photos I have taken over the last few weeks! I truly love this province and am convinced that it is one of the most special places on earth. It is the 'drive through province' - cars from Ontario race through on the highways to get to touristy PEI or Nova Scotia one way and cars from New England and Nova Scotia race through on their way to Quebec and Ontario. I am of two minds about this - part of the magic of NB is the feeling of it being 'undiscovered' and off-the-beaten-path, but I want to put up signs for all these drivers saying "Slow Down! You're missing the best stuff!" From weather-beaten Bay of Fundy fishing scenes to bucolic rolling farmlands, this province has it all. It isn't possible to capture the essence of the place in photos (at least not for me) as it is so tied to the kind and generous (and funny) people here, but here are a few of my shots anyway.
Oh, I am welling up. I, too, miss New Brunswick and think it's one of the best places in the world. I know what you mean about wanting to keep it undiscovered, and yet promoting it at the same time. I miss that we didn't really get to spend any time in NB this summer. The good thing is, that no matter how long you've been away, it always feels like home. Okay, now I'm really crying. Can't wait to see you guys when you get back. Any chance you're bringing back NB blueberries?
