Belated Canada Day project

After seeing this project on Jen's amazing blog Kitchen Counter Chronicles, we decided it would be fun to make our own Canadian flag on the weekend!  We got some paint and brushes at the dollar store and a big sheet of craft paper.  We filled in each side with red, and I saved the "maple leaf" for last.
It was beautiful and sunny but very windy - hence the rocks!
We were a little distracted by the newspaper I had used to cover the porch - I had unwittingly brought out the classifieds with lots of very cool cars...
The setting was pretty darn scenic (other than the scaffolding my dad is using to re-do the cedar roof) - the perfect setting to celebrate Canada!
For the maple leaf, we obviously painted Will's hand and then traced it out.  He thought this was the best part of all!
 Our finished flag.  Oh Canada!
Head on over to Jen's blog for all the instructions - it makes a nice outdoor activity!

  4. This is the cuttest thing I've seen in a long time! I wish I'd done it years ago, but I doubt if my 21 year old daughter and 24 year old son would want to paint the flag. Not to mention the fact that their hands would probably not fit.
