Giveaway - Frankie Ferragine's new book!

Recognize this guy?  If you don't live in Toronto, the answer might well be no.  But if you DO live in Toronto, you probably recognize Frank Ferragine aka Frankie Flowers as the weather guy from Breakfast Television (he has been Toronto's Favourite Weather Personality 6 years running).  He also has a gardening segment on Breakfast Television, is a contributing garden writer for Canadian Living and Canadian Gardening, is the gardening expert on CityLine, writes a weekly column in the Toronto Sun promoting local food, farming, and cuisine, and has just launched his new book, pictured above: Get Growing.  And now, most importantly, he and his garden design teammate Beth Edney of Teamscape have signed on to our George Herman House Project.  I can't quite believe how big this project has gotten, with Frankie and sponsors like Ikea Canada, Tonic Living, Bona Vista Pools, and Mastermind Toys on board.  It is amazing - I am so happy to see such a great cause get so much support.

So here is the cool part for you, and the terrifying part for me: the giveaway.  See, I have never done one of these...(what if no one comments?)...  However, for the good of the cause, and because it is the exciting start of gardening season, I am thrilled to squash my inner-wimp and give one of my lucky readers a copy of Frankie's new book!  To enter, simply leave a comment below describing your gardening skills.  Could you have written this thing, or are you confused by all the greenery pictured above?  Do you speak fertilizer (25-10-10...huh?), or have you been known to melt plastic flowers?  It's ok... no judgement here... :)  If you tweet about the giveaway (and use #bloggersgiveback) leave another comment for an extra entry.  Good luck!  To inspire you to "get growing", I leave you with some photos I took this weekend -such glorious weather!

  1. I enjoy photography and always research the plants I take pictures of. I know many plant names but as for growing them...I seem to kill things..a lot.. So perhaps this book can help, which is why I am entering :P

  7. I've had moderate success with gardening but this year I've decided to go 'big' in our new home/acreage. We built a potager and brought in soil for it. No more messing around with poor quality soil. I may have already surpassed the $60 tomato mark and I haven't started planting yet.
Anyhow, I love Frankie. Watch his segments all the time on cityline. I'm in Calgary so we don't see him on our BT. Too bad, because our BT crew sucks. *just saying* ;)

  9. We lack any knowledge in the gardening arena - and in fact, tried to convince our dear blogging friend Lisa, to help us in moving a tree. We need all the help we can get. Winning the book would be a good start?

Lis - good luck with the contest:)
