Craig's List Roundup

Lovely simple lines on this iron bed - $100
It's been a while since I trolled around Craigslist looking for things I don't need - I have had no need, what with The Listings List bringing me all the good stuff with a fantastic dose of snarky humour.  But tonight the hubby is out and I am too tired to do any work but too wired to go to bed early, so treasure trolling it is.  Here are a few things that caught my eye amongst the insanely overpriced junk and car parts:

Art deco-shaped brass and glass shelves - $175
Oh-so-chic brass pendants with filament bulbs, two for $210 (so you know they want $200) isn't a crazy price...
'K, don't even really read this one... this kilim is mine (for $175).  Sorry honey, it has to be done.
LOVE the straight square lines on this brass headhttp://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/atq/3847527990.htmlboard.  LOVE.  WANT. $300
Looking beat-to-hell, but isn't that the point with these lamps?  All that character, in working order... for only $35!  You know this would be at least double that at SMASH.
A lovely walnut dresser with completely the wrong knobs (imho) - $225
Are these ugly?  I kind of love them - brass and rosewood flatware for $80
"Retro" light from Union Lighting means you won't need to rewire it! - $75
Sometimes a half-moon console table is just the right size for awkward spaces.  This guys has a nice shape, but it is looking a little rough, so I would talk them down... from $30.
Oh spool beds, how I love you. I really do. Even for $300.
Anything tempt you?  Do you think I might have a thing for wood and brass?  Maybe?

New living room photos

I may not have been blogging much lately, but I can't seem to stop tinkering with the house - I do it almost unconsciously!  One day I feel the need to change up the mantel, another day I am switching pillows around.  Our friend and babysitter came over on Friday after having been away for a while and couldn't believe how many changes I had made.  Because I have been doing them bit by bit and been so distracted by my work and business course, I really hadn't taken in the cumulative effect of all my little tweaks.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

Yes, I am very, painfully, aware that so far Spring has been the mother of all disappointments.  Seriously Universe - ICE PELLETS?  Yeesh.  But, although the tulips are slow in poking out their heads, the Garage Sales have begun (Cue the music! Start the skipping!).  That is right my thrifty friends, yesterday my mother-in-law and I went to my first yard sale of the season, in the posh area around Old Mill.  We were there just at the end, which means we probably missed some good stuff, but got some great deals.  For example, this cheerful, hand-stitched wool shawl.  No holes, no snags.  $5.  Perfect to inject a little colour into a room or outfit. Love it.

Craigslist Murphy Bunk Bed

Um, this thing is pretty amazing.  I wonder how comfortable it is?  I have always had a thing for Murphy beds, and this one is sort of blowing my mind...

Yours for only $4000.

That fancy telephone

Remember the fancy telephone I noticed on craigslist the other day (for $25)?  I had to laugh out loud when I saw this on Pinterest tonight - it's from a Design*Sponge house tour:
Ah the magic of lighting and editing.  And now I need the phone.

Craig's List Roundup

I haven't done a craigslist post in a while, so I thought I would take a quick peek at what was there this morning.  There are a couple of cool finds, but nothing that made me drool, and there is a much junk that is so overpriced on there!  But these few items caught my eye, including the pretty pine dining room table above.
These could make nice accent chairs, or dining room table chairs, especially if you painted them a fun colour (or black would be nice).  And at $30 each, they are a pretty good deal.
This looks like a nice corner curio cabinet - I love corner cabinets because they make such good use of an awkward space.  Luckily we only really have one corner in our place!  At $275 this is a pretty good deal too.

Another Amazing Craig's List Score

My love for Craig's List has been well-documented on this blog - I find it fascinating what people will sell, how they will describe it, and how much they ask for it.  Plus it's like a 24/7 garage sale - with some killer scores to be snatched up!  I cannot take credit for this find, however.  A fellow craig's list addict Claire posted about this piece on her wonderful blog, Take This Sofa, where she does a round-up of Craig's List finds every day.  Just think of the karma points she is earning...
I have long been trying to figure out what to do with this nook by the window.  Since my latest living room furniture configuration, it has been a great place to stick all the plastic toys and train tracks that seem to collect in my house.  But even in carefully sorted clear plastic boxes, the clutter was getting to me.  So I dreamed of something that would fill the long, skinny space, provide lots of storage for toys, and of course give me another surface to table-scape.
Sadly, I am no good at table-scaping, but I love it none-the-less.  And this piece of solid, Thomasville-quality furniture was just what the doctor ordered - it fits like a dream (sliding juuust under the window sill) holds tons of junk, and was $150 smackers!!  I may paint it one day (I am having a light grey obsession at the moment) but definitely not any time soon.  For now I will just light more candles for the gods of Craig's List - and Claire. :)
